Early Career & Background

Thomas Gordon Barker served in the British Army’s Household Cavalry before spending many years in southern Africa, where he built a distinguished career in advertising and marketing. During that time, he worked with leading agencies including J. Walter Thompson before founding his own digital marketing agency specialising in website development, SEO, and live streaming.

British Roots & Heritage

Although Gordon spent much of his life in Africa, his roots are firmly British. As an armed forces veteran, his family’s connection to British public life runs deep. His uncle Adam Barker was a former fellow of Queens’ College, Cambridge, and a master at Eton before taking on the Headmaster’s role of Leys School Cambridge who then moved to be headmaster of University College School, Hampstead.

His aunt Jean Barker (Baroness Trumpington)  was Mayor Jean Barker – Lady Trumpington, the First Conservative Woman Mayor of Cambridge. In the 1960s and 1970s she served in local government in Cambridgeshire. In 1980 she was created a life peer after which she served in the House of Lords.

Personal Philosophy

Gordon’s journey through the challenges of COVID-19 reshaped his outlook and purpose. He often quotes Rob Burrow who said, “In a world of diversity, we must dare to dream.”
